Netflix’s Spinning Out follows the story of Kat Baker, a twenty one-year old ice skater who has a tough time getting back to her best after a really scary fall. It has ten episodes and battles themes like mental illness, family pressure, and a very weirdly surprising competitiveness in ice skating. (I always thought ice skating was just fun and games, but nope.)
I didn’t actually like the first few episodes because there were a few things that freaked me out. But overall, the show is actually quite good. It does seem like a drag in the middle but the last four episodes are really good and I was very satisfied with the ending (though there were a few things I would’ve done differently).
It isn’t the best Netflix has given, but it isn’t the worst either and the various storylines of the characters are quite engaging. Even though Kat Baker is the protagonist of the show, it is not just about her. (She will frustrate you at various different points though).
